Dear Nigerians,
This is a very crucial time in our country. People are not safe, our brothers and sisters are being murdered especially by those that have been called to protect us and all our pleas to the government are falling on deaf ears.
Despite all this I couldn’t be more proud of our generation (the youths) , because we were determined to end this! We have had enough of the bloodshed by the so called SARS. This people harass and arrest us just because we dress nice , have a good phone or carry a laptop and drive a good car, as if we don’t know our human rights, but even when we try to tell them that what they are doing is wrong and against the law, they shoot their guns at our fellow brothers and sisters and you say we should keep quiet? Not protest? That we shouldn’t take this too personal?
I am amazed at the mindset of some people saying that this is uncalled for 🤧🤨, I mean the fact that you haven’t had a first hand experience with this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to understand the pains of those that have been through this scenario. You never know who it can affect, God forbid should it be your brother, sister, cousin, boyfriend or even your girlfriend and as well as loved friends and relatives. We all want a country where we can live in and be proud of. A country that has not become a laughing stock amongst others, A country we can all have a family and train our children in without having to worry about their safety.
I honestly haven’t even gone out to protest because I don’t think I am mentally stable enough to, just by scrolling through social media, I break down everytime, I see things spiralling. These so-called police/SARS are killing innocent protesters, but that doesn’t mean I don’t do my own bit by spreading the word, and joining to create awareness in any way I can.
If you are reading this and you can’t join the physical protest, please join the social media protest and spread the word using the hashtags #EndSARS #EndPoliceBrutality and you can also Donate food, water or snacks to people protesting physically, whether you are a Nigerian or not, your voice is really needed. I really do believe we can win this fight only if we persevere
Xoxo, Fheyi❤
