A DAY AT USUMA DAM: HIKING AND CANOEING

Hi guys welcome back to yet another post on my blog

If you have been following me on instagram, you will know i have been talking about The great hike 2019 organised by Sehembz travels happening in usuma dam Abuja for a while now. Saturday was definitely not my first time at usuma dam but it was my first time hiking there. If you are in Abuja and you are looking for a place to hike and enjoy the source of nature, please visit usuma dam, you will not regret it.

So we got to usuma dam by 10 am and after learning that the water is 49m deep, we started the hike Let me tell you all that hiking is not easy, by the time i got to the first hill, i was already tired to the point that i almost gave up the whole hiking process.

This was at the first hill rethinking my decision to give up the hike

By the time i noticed that i was among the last set of people to reach the top, i decided to continue my journey and after panting and swearing not to try this again in my life i finally got to the top.

Please pardon the lack of light, the sun was not out yet

Our tour guide at the dam took us to a cave that was really beautiful and close to the water itself , which was how i had the courage to go on my first ever canoe riding. I mean i have never entered a boat, ship or whatever talk less of a canoe. My heart was beating so fast while I was in the water, the only solace I had was that my friend and my boss were with me if not i would have fainted even though we didn’t venture deep into the dam.

That is me in the middle fearing for my life
That’s my smile of victory taken at the cave

At the end of the day i was glad that i did the canoe riding, because I had fun even though I was scared as hell but it’s an experience i would consider trying again. I also awarded myself with small chops from 12Baskets, their small chops were heavenly I am telling you, make sure to patronise them whenever you want
