Storytime: Visited the dentist for the first time in my life*not good*

Story story,

Two weeks ago, I realised that i have not been grateful to God enough. The fact that we are able to put food in our mouth, chew and swallow is a big deal. Two weeks ago, I had a problem with my gum, both sides of my gum had little wounds on them, thereby preventing me from eating any food at all except from fruits and swallow. My right cheek swoll up to the points that family members started calling me “puff puff” cheeks😁, the pain was unbearable and I couldn’t talk well. So after a lot of self prescribed vitamin-c’s, i decided to visit the dentist, which was a little scary for me because I had never been to see a dentist before and i thought I had mouth cancer😥.

So my dad booked an appointment with the dentist who works at Federal Medical centre Jabi a day before because he(dentist) is an old friend of ours and they kinda go way back, sha we were asked to come by 10:50am on Wednesday but trust Nigerian time now, we got to the federal medical centre, Jabi, Abuja by 11:30am and met a lot of crowd. I was asked to register and get a new hospital card before I can be checked on which took about an hour(I dunno why they were so slow in attending to us ehn) after which I had to wait for another two hours for the doctor, despite the fact that we sort of knew him and he knew we were waiting for him. By then i was already tired and frustrated and just wanted to go back home.

By the time I was called in, the nurses where so rude, by then it was 2:30pm and they were just shouting that they want to close work soon meanwhile the normal closing time is 4:00pm👀 after the check up, the doctor said that I did not have mouth cancer but another teeth was about to grow and my gum is not letting it, sha something along that line but I needed to do “scaling and polishing”. Y’ALL this was where i freaked out because from what i had heard it wasn’t good at all and if not done well, it could be painful.

The nurse assigned to me was so rude for no reason, it’s as if they sent her from my village o because she did not do the scaling and polishing with her heart. At first she used something like a spoon to open my mouth and held it there, then she started scraping my teeth with a scaling tool and that ladies and gentlemen was where another round of pain began, because she was just being rough on me ehn. This nurse went about four rounds and after every round i would spit out a cup full of blood( it wasn’t funny at all) After the whole process, I was given a lecture of how I should be brushing my teeth twice in a day. Please let’s be honest, how many people actually brush their teeth twice a day( please comment if you do) if you do, i admire you guys. At the end of the day, the doctor gave me some drugs to take for seven days(yuck). And I made a vow to myself not to visit a dentist ever again,so i am doing everything possible by first brushing twice a day and reducing the amount of sweet i lick😥.

Anyway i am cured now and i can eat and chew anything I want to(nothing can hinder me from eating food now😁). I hope you guys enjoyed this story and please comment below if you’ve ever been to a dentist and what your experience was like, also try to brush twice a day because it really helps you to stay away from the dentist.

Love, fheyi
