No I didn’t travel out of Nigeria and yes the first light rail train station in West Africa is in Abuja Nigeria💃.When I first heard about it, I thought it was going to be nothing to write home about almost like everything thing else in the country, i even had my doubts about the customer service there ( I think we can all agree that most Nigerian organisation do not have good customer service) but I was suprised. So my friend suggested we try it out and since it was also my first time on a train, I said why not.
Read on for the details😏
The train station is located at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport in Abuja. The whole train station has its own terminal which is beautiful and very clean might I add

When we got there we found out that they only work on weekdays and not on weekends (which is not fair because people travel on weekends alot) Thank God we went on a Tuesday. We decided to follow the afternoon train which was by 1:30
Apparently the train has two stops, one is in IDU where those going to Kaduna will enter a transit and the other is in Abuja Metro station close to church gate. Those going to IDU will pay N500 while those going to Abuja Metro station will pay N1000. So I decided to get the one of N1000 for better experience

After we bought our ticket, we were told to hang around that we will start checking-in by 1:22pm and leave 1:30pm.

Which I thought was impossible, i mean we all know how Nigerian time works😂👀 but lo and behold by exactly 1:22pm, we were called to check-in and once it was 1:30pm on the dot, the train started moving, you guys need to have seen the shock on my face ( I really couldn’t believe it)
Let’s talk about the interior of the train. It is beautiful, clean and organised, I mean i was asking myself if this was really a Nigerian train and i got my answers. Inside the train, there are Nigerian and china flags hung, which made me understand that china must have contributed somehow to the development of this beauty.

You see how these chairs are well painted, lets just hope that in 1 year, it doesn’t start peeling off😪👀
So the train got to IDU by 1:46pm to drop of those going to Kaduna and left by 1:49pm. I later got to Abuja Metro station by 2:10pm which was too long for me though.so it took me 40 minutes to get to town from the airport which is quite okay if you ask me, from the airport I found my way back home😂
So if you guys ever come to Abuja and want to get to town, i suggest using the train station, helps you get to your destination faster.
