TGIF M.C.Rs 💃 what are your plans for the weekend?😏 Mine is just to catch up on lost sleep😁 and work on my baby project🙈
Anyways so during my Last Q and A on this blog, a couple of my Instagram followers asked me why I started blogging and how to go about it. At that time I gave them a short answer because I didn’t really have enough experience to show someone how to start blogging. Then I realised that even if it’s been a year since I have been blogging on WordPress, the little I gathered should be shared to you all, most especially because I know that when I first started I needed someone to show me the ins and outs of the blogging world.
PS: I am not an expert in blogging, hell I think i only know a few things but the little I know I will share.
WHY?
I started blogging because at that time I needed a place to pour out my feelings . There was a lot going on in the world at that time and I felt I needed to talk about it. I wanted my own little corner hence the blog name👆. I was doing a lot then , from learning makeup to doing my Internship at the Airport. Also because I think a lot, and come up with weird things coupled with the fact that I talk to myself a lot about any and everything, so someone advised me to instead pour all thoughts and opinions into blogging. It was either a blog or a YouTube channel, I couldn’t start a YouTube channel because i didn’t have a good phone at least to even take good videos, no editing skills and I was camera shy.
WHEN?
I started blogging officially in August 2018 on Blogspot then moved to WordPress early last year because Blogspot wasn’t user friendly. As per my own opinion though. I realised that it wasn’t easy connecting to my own site and it was hard for people to subscribe , comment and like. It was just a bit complicated for me especially since I was just starting out, so my sister then advised me to move to WordPress. Which is why I am here.
HOW?
As a beginner who has never blogged before I will advise that you open your blog with WordPress.com . It’s easy to use and understand, relatable themes and a community of bloggers . If you are a WordPress blogger, it’s easier for you to find/ discover other bloggers out there because there is something called a “wordpress reader” it helps you come across other blog articles and post. Its also very easy to create your blog on this particular site . The site has different Plans that suites you depending on what you are opening it for and your budget;
- Free Plan: This is what I currently use , I use this because I am still a beginner and don’t have the income to pay for a plan yet. This free plan comes with settings that you need and a lot of free themes and some features, but it doesn’t give you an opportunity to own your own Domain name( blog address) or have access to some really cool features
- Personal plan: $4 per month, billed yearly. this gives you the opportunity to personalise your blog with some really cool features and own your domain name .
- Premium Plan: This is for the freelancers in the house, it’s $8 per month , billed yearly .
- Business Plan: it’s $25 per month, billed yearly. This are for the small business owners , gives them the opportunity to own their website
- eCommerce Plan: it’s $45 per month, billed yearly. this gives access to all the features plus email and live chat , several plugins e.t.c

TIPS
- Click Here to sign up . This will automatically take you to the WordPress page where you can sign up and start your journey into blogging.
- Choose the free plan. I will advise that if you are opening a blog, you start with the free plan so you can adjust and get used to it before upgrading.
- Choose a catchy Domain name. if you are using the free plan, it means that “wordpress.com” is going to be added to your blog address and until you can pay for a better plan , your domain name is going to come from your blog name. So whatever you are choosing, make it easier to remember and short , so your readers can relate to it.
- Choose a simple Theme. I know you’ve probably heard the saying “Less is more” , yh i think you should apply it when choosing a theme. Use something that is suitable for your purpose and easy to work with . Don’t add a lot of things on your page, it will just make it crowded. Therefore just add the necessary plugins and buttons so you won’t find it difficult to maintain.
- Be You. Let your blog represent you. it should be able to speak about who you are as a person to your readers. I personally think that you don’t have to be too formal only when necessary because your readers connect to you through your blog, it helps them feel like they know you at least.
- Download the app. Download the WordPress app. This will make things easier for you as well. You don’t have to go through your email to upload a post when you have this app.
- Subscribe to my blog 😀, I mean how can you come this far and you won’t subscribe, so you can learn more and know when I post more gist. it’s just below the comment box.
Thank you so much for reading, I know this post is long, I hope you enjoyed and learnt from it. Let me know if you did in the comments👇 and what you would like me to blog about next😏.
